Day of Hope
Sunday 6th September
Father’s Day, September 6th was an unusually hot afternoon. Rain had been forecast for the coming week however, North Queenslander’s know that rain will come whenever and wherever it wants – but this did not dampen spirits. Instead, our (amazing) MCF volunteers were scurrying around with excitement as the set-up for the giveaway commenced. This was a day where God’s love was going to be outworked in a practical way and the heart of MCF was that everything would run smoothly and people would be blessed.
As the afternoon unfolded, the majority of people who had received free clothing stayed around, relaxed and enjoyed the free BBQ, face painting and tea and coffee whilst listening to the live entertainment. From dresses to work clothes, feedback from our Mackay community about the giveaway was extremely positive. This even could not have come at a better time.
However, the greatest reward was for us as a Church to bless our community through the act of giving freely – which is what Jesus is all about. Hope, joy, peace and life was in the air and everything ran smoothly without a drop of rain.
